Tuesday, May 26th Callie's K-Graduation

Callie graduated from Kindergarten...and I was not there! I had to go on a field trip with the Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors....BUT, I did watch Kindergarten Graduation Practice on Friday from beginning to end...and Callie did see me...I waved, clapped and told all of the kindergartners what a great job they did. Aunt Victoria and Granny came to the rescue on Tuesday. Aunt Victoria and Ace drove all the way up to video Callie and be there since I could not. Granny checked Callie out and took her home making the end of kindergarten official.

Tuesday, May 26th

Tuesday was Callie's very last day of Kindergarten!!! It is so hard to believe that she will be seven in the fall and that it has all gone by so fast. It seems like once you get your children somewhat house trained the time just begins to FLY by ...But I'm not so sure that the year flew by for Callie. She did really well this year and did not get her color changed to red NOT one single time and for that I am the most proud...Just maybe, Callie might be public trained as well!

Saturday, May 23rd

Saturday Morning at 10AM Chelsea had her second Piano Recital at the Buffalo Nursing Home. She is really improving and reading the music really well. She played Old McDonald, Yankee Doodle, and Mary Had a Little Lamb all flawlessly! Granny Henson and Grandmommy came to watch and we were so glad that they did...Just about the time that Chelsea decides that she does not want to play anymore we have a recital and hearing and seeing the older kids really gives her something to work towards...Way to go Chelsea!

Track and Field Day

Friday was Track and Field Day...Chelsea prepares for months to compete in this event...she loves it! Callie on the other hand experienced Track and Field Day for the first time this year and seemed to think the same way her mom thinks, "Run only when you life is in danger!" I thought that they both looked beautiful and very athletic!

Chicken Snakes!

When I went out to the barn to feed my chickens and ducks today, I found a snake! I HATE Chicken snakes....It was curled up on a board and tin about a foot from the ground right behind my nesting box for my baby mallard ducks ( I have 5 baby mallard ducks)...he was after eggs or baby chicks and ducks! Charlie shot it in the head with the BB gun and then we cut its head off...It was about 6 feet long and had actually eaten one of my large glass duck eggs. They usually travel in pairs so...I will be watching for the other one tomorrow. CORRECTION...Charlie just came in and said that he ran over another chicken snake in the drive - about 3 and 1/2 feet in length...Wow! they are really on the move tonight.

OK...Today we are home from school, because Callie had a cough and sore throat yesterday ...so I took her to the doctor and she has strep throat, but with all of the swine flu scare we were asked to stay home one day! I really hated to (HA HA HA), but we will make it through the day! My girls were tired, it's almost 9Am and they are still asleep. This time of year it is so hard to stay upbeat, everyone is tired, TAKS is over...and it seems like you are just spinning your wheels until semester exams...which no one knows if they take semester exams until TAKS testing results come back, because we use them as exemptions. So, the girls and I are going to enjoy our freedom today and proclaim it Swine Flu day!

We lived and breathed Prom for the last couple of weeks....my mom even came and helped decorate two days. Our hard work was worth it , because the students seemed to have a blast. My own girls are glad that it is over just so that they can come home in the afternoons - Last Wednesday Callie had her colored changed because I failed to sign the Tuesday folder...to be honest I don't even know if I told them to take a bath Tuesday night! We had to spray paint the decorations on Tuesday in the building because of the rain and the fumes had made me sick...well Callie insisted on Wednesday that it was not her fault and she should not be penalized because she had been at Prom all afternoon! I thought it was cute, but I'm not sure that Mrs. Atkinson did. The Point...It took a great deal of work from the sponsors, prom committee, and even our families, but as teachers our reward was the smiles on our students faces and having them as well as some of their parents Thank us for a job well done. NOW we have to start planning next years Prom! Chelsea also took her 3rd grade Math TAKS last week on Tuesday....We hope that one comes out as well as Reading. She received commended on the Reading Test, but Math is harder for her.
